So Here's How It Goes...

one of two feather extensions
¡MONKEY!
I lobotomised over 1,000 mousetraps!
I just watched the film Limitless so my brain is still high wired and I think I need to post to wind down so I can sleep.

I have just spent the last few weeks in Illinois and Wisconsin, working Monday through Friday and playing at faire on the weekends.  Also, my spawn day was celebrated somewhere in there.  Surprisingly, I remember it.  I also gifted myself with a few presents, a new half bodice, a new derby with feathers, feather hair extensions, a monkey, a mermaid figurine for my dash, and... wow I probably shouldn't think about all of that.

This blog seems to be decreasing in words and increasing in photographs.  Oh well, just feel your brains atrophy.

Tomorrow I head for Minnesota.  There I will be working Saturdays and Sundays at faire and winding down Monday through Friday.  I plan on getting plenty of sewing done while there.  Also, a friend and I are going to do some photo shoots.  Even more photos for your brains to ingest.

The long term plan, currently, (long term being a little over a year from now) is to add projects to my portfolio (of costume pieces), work on the pirate ship this Winter, actually start up selling pieces on Etsy, and attend Graduate school next Autumn.  Let's check back next November or so and see how I did, am doing, do?  In the interim:

love having my miniscule toenails painted black
did I mention I'm sketching renderings?

Tails, Tails, and Tales

Sailing through NYC
A gorgeous sunset almost every night!
fog is scary to sail through
Chilling on the diving board.
Bosslady biting my tail!

At the helm, Statue of Liberty in the background.
I just realised I had forgotten to post pics from swimming at friends' house in Georgia.
Also, there are some pics from the past two weeks when I was sailing.  I will put in a recounting of the trip soon.  Today I must pack for tomorrow I must drive from NJ to IL.

The Best Laid Plans

I were paintin'.
not the finished paint job
makin' a mess!
Endeavour 37?  Home for a couple of weeks.
Haha, so...I am constantly having to change my plans.  The engine on the boat was proving difficult.  I went back to NJ to get some stuff done for a couple of days, awaiting the go-ahead for heading back to Maryland.  I just got it earlier today.  Tomorrow I fly back to MD.  Thursday we, should, ship out.

Also, I am minutes away from finishing my tail.  I hope to swim in it tomorrow afternoon at the marina.  All that is left is the trim.  Pics to come when I return from sailing.

Craziness and Out to Sea

Creation was a blast!
I even got to wear my top hat the one day!
tail progress!
Creation was great, my favourite bits were dancing crazy to Owl City and hill rolling the one night.  One day I wore my top hat and rainbow pants.  Another day I dressed as Red-Handed Jill Sparrow.  Overall, it was awesome.

Tail progress, this pic was taken before I worked the latex into the whole thing.  Remaining is painting, velcro, and trim.  Most of this will have to be done much later.

I am headed out to buy some shorts and bikini tops.  I am about to sail for a couple weeks from MD to ME, I'll be a bit out of the loop.  <3

A Bagel, a Mess, and a New Tail

design concept
went a bit crazy lol
tail is all cut out now
FINALLY a REAL bagel!
I'm not sure that I will be painting the neoprene patchwork tail.  I have begun construction on a spandex/lycra tail.

Tuesday I head to Creation 2011, which will curtail construction.  I return Sunday evening.  Monday is that American holiday with pretty explosions.  Tuesday I pack again.  Wednesday I should ship out to sea with my brother, headed for Maine.  My first swim test of the new tail very well might be in the ocean off of the side of a sailboat.

I'm researching graduate schools, it is slow going.  Not sure I have anything else to share just now.

Funky Formal Satine
Zombie Invasion Weekend
I make a delicious mushy stir-fry!
Watch out!  Danger when gingers unite!
Tomorrow I head up to the house of some friends.  I get to spend the weekend in their pool and swimming and chilling with a bunch of sexy women.  I just finished some tail repairs so that I can do this as a mer.  I'm terribly excited to get back in my tail and in the water.  I hope we can take some photos of it!

After that I head up to NJ on either Monday or Tuesday.  Hopefully I can gain access to a pool in NJ as well, and maybe finally finish things with my tail.  I might try and enlist the help of some artist friends to assist in painting it.  Then I'll be spending some time in PA at Creation 2011.  Followed by a large family gathering for the 4th of July.  Then, I should be aiding my brother in sailing his new house, a 30-some foot sailboat, North along the coast.  Then it's back to the faires, Bristol and MN.

Alright, I'm off to spend one more night in the heat of my house.

Never Enough Time

I would like to spend more time in Georgia.

finally
sinus infection and finally multivitamins
I was in The Devil's Panties!  And, no, I'm not the orc.  I'm the one in black and white.  That woman has an attentive eye to details, she even got that I was wearing more than one necklace!
hand sewn gloves
There are a few alterations that need to be done to the second one.  Not bad for my first ever pair of gloves and no pattern.  I plan on adding buttons and tea dyeing them later this year.  I was on a hand sewing kick and I am horribly tempted by the idea of hand sewing an entire outfit.  It's not the first time I've had this insane notion.

Tomorrow is Funky Formal.  I plan on wearing a Satine from Moulin Rouge outfit, based on her black lingerie outfit from the Elephant scene.  We'll see how it goes and if everyone I hope shows up to have some fun.  Expect a report on Friday evening if I remember after I check back into my TN hotel.

On a side note, I have recently visited The Boiler Room, a sneak peek two days before the Grand Opening which was last Saturday.  It is the very first Steampunk Store.  It is run by the super cool people of Penny Dreadful Productions.  They are the ones responsible for Steampunk Boba Fett.  I feel honored to know some of them and to be able to go to their shop.  I hope to head up that way a time or two again before I head for NJ.

There are so many things I want to accomplish this summer and the whole year.
