I'm just about out of neoprene cement so I'm running to one of the only shops in this area that carries it.  Then taking the amazing Publix spinach artichoke dip to Family Dinner.  Swim test on Thursday or Friday.  ~Cnidaria

So Close and Yet So Far

mmmm smells yummy!
finally a full fluke cut out!
tools:  chalk, ruler, rotary cutter
fun drawing concept thing
Throat is feeling much better.  I think I'm back at 99.99% health.  Missing my friend who I was talking to a lot for a week or so there.  He's busy with work.  As am I.  A friend is visiting the faire this weekend, maybe two even, and I get to go see Rango finally.  I had better anyhow.  Costumes for the show are coming along well.

Tail steps remaining:  cut out fluke piece two, cement and cut out bottom piece of fluke after monofin, cement everything together around the monofin, work in latex, swim test, trim excess, paint, SWIM!

Running Out Of Time

Found my maille ears, <3 them
So despite the fact that my antibiotics were done the Friday before this, the day I got my henna done, I am still not 100% better.  There is still something wrong with my throat, suffice to say it hurts mornings and evenings and I'll spare you the gruesome details.  However, I don't have time this week to get to the doctor.  There's the slight possibility I can go later Wednesday afternoon, otherwise I have to wait until late Friday afternoon.  Today I have most of my girls in the shop and we're all working.  Tomorrow we have five fittings with different actors.  Wednesday we are working in the shop and have a big fitting at one in the afternoon.  Thursday we have our production meeting and some more fittings.  It's frustrating to say the least.

St. Paddy's Day
I don't have any other photos to post today.  Maybe I'll pop one in later as I get more work done on the hoop skirt.

Some side notes:  no tail progress really which is annoying me, my house is a mess and there's a major issue with my front door, and I wish I were in the UK.  I've been chatting a bit more with one of my UK friends and it bums me that I can't hang out with him and others in person.  I have at least six friends who float around to different towns in the UK and I want to visit them.  It is really tempting to want to pursue another degree overseas and then apply for jobs in costume shops in the UK.

Also, On Stranger Tides has a new trailer out, you can get a better look at the mermaids and two scenes where Jack gets slapped.  I'm terribly excited!

Alright, I'm off to get some work done before it becomes too late and before my friend signs onto skype and I become distracted.

Did I Mention?

Unfinished Waistcoat
Wednesday is hat day!
So Wednesdays are hat day in the costume shop.  Did I mention that before?  It's fun.  For those of you following me on facebook, I have an entire album dedicated to it, with photos of everyone in their hats.  This is my sick face and hat from last week when I was recovering from the flu.

I did get a tiny bit of tail work done last week, and a tiny bit done this week.  Hopefully I'll get some more done this week.  So far I've been bringing salads for lunch, until today when all they had were nasty ones and I didn't have time to wait for the good ones to be unpacked.  So I bought some instant pad thai yumminess.

Costumes are coming along well.  I have more to do to that lace hoop skirt, apparently the back becomes lace as well as the front.  We have fittings with almost all the characters next week, so long as they can schedule fittings.  I have another waistcoat to make after I finish that one.  I also have to buy some things tomorrow, like tights for the men, etc.  It's exciting stuff.  Family dinner last night was delightful, my bosses even made it down.  Unfortunately most everyone brought wine and no food.  So next week I will bring my infamous garlic mac and cheese again and the unopened bottle of Merlot I took last night.

The faire is going well.  We are 'overstaffed' as of this weekend.  I went up last Friday for the tail end of kids' day and got some henna from my friends.  Looks awesome!  Alright, I'm off to get some hoop skirt work done.  <3

Misery Does Not Get Company

Influenza has struck.  My vow, or both, has not been touched.  I plan, tonight, to do some things to my tail.  I swear it!

I went to the clinic yesterday and bumped elbows with my doc, who admitted there's something doctors thought they knew but were wrong about knowing.  I was asking if I would be contagious if I returned to work soon.  He admitted that they thought they knew but not any more.  Disheartening to think I might make others sick but heartening in having a doctor admit the truth.  He prescribed rest, fluids, and two different antibiotics.

I did have a head that felt like imploding from sinus pressure, chills, laryngitis, shakes, aches, fatigue, fever, sore throat...and evil menstrual cramps all at once.  Today is day two of the antiobiotics (a five day run).  I already feel better.  I did not go to work today, I hope to return tomorrow.  It sucks because I feel like I'm wasting time.  I guess I turned out to be a workaholic like my father.  As evidenced by my continuing to work on Sunday with most of the aforementioned symptoms as I could feel my fever coming on and then rising.  And still I was hit on by more people on a day when I had a fever and was losing my voice.  Odd.

Had to leave the house for a bit today so I went to the cinema and saw Take Me Home Tonight.  I needed something lighthearted.  It helped some.  Now I am pirating wifi from Panera and about to grab a burrito bowl from Chipotle.  Then I head home and play with latex and measure my fluke up a bit.

So I'm off to grab my belovéd Chipotle and get some tail stuff done.  Will be interesting, if any of my books have arrived in the mail I will have to fight to get tail work done >_<  Though being outside and feeling the breeze and hearing the gulls made me want to go swimming in the ocean again.  I'm hoping the next time I do I will have a tail!

I'm Lacking a Tail

Having no time to work on my tail is upsetting me.  Monday I went to the local Borders to help support them because I will cry if they go away.  Tuesday is family dinner nights with the rennies.  Wednesday I went to see Wicked in Orlando.  Thursday I worked until 1850 and then attended rehearsal from 1900-2200.  Tonight I pack and prepare for the weekend until around 1900 when I drive up tot Tampa and get situated up there.  This means I've not touched my tail in ages.  It's somewhat disheartening.  I am vowing to work on it next week.  Even if that means I don't watch rehearsal and I work in the shop on my tail instead.  On the other hand, I've gotten a lot of costume stuff done recently.  Also, I haven't even finished tacking down my quilt.

So yes, here is me vowing to get some major progress done next week on my tail.  I mean if you break it down I have five easy steps left.  Measure/alter pattern, cement fluke, cement everything, swim test, paint.  Okay, I'm off to work.  Also, I'm going to start bringing salad to work for lunch.  Marius can keep an eye on me :)
